WEEDING EXCHANGE PARTY ROUND II at Nash's

This post expired on August 25, 2015.

THANK YOU THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who joined in the fun-weeding times last Monday. We were overwhelmed by the awesome turnout, so grateful for
everyone’s time and energy. Some serious weeding got done and everyone walked away loaded up with lots of veggies in exchange for their time…win win!

Turns out, there are still more weeds out there in the winter carrots (surprise surprise). We also received a lot of feedback AFTER the weeding party, folks telling us how they couldn’t make it, found out about it too late, slept in, missed their alarm, were out of town, whatever the reason, they wished they could have come! Sooo….

ROUND TWO THIS MONDAY! Come one come all, to weed the sweetest carrots of them all! (last round, we promise)

This Monday 8am at the packing shed, 1865 E Anderson Rd., across from the Old Dungeness School house. See below for additional details regarding our current situation, what to bring, and what you get in exchange for your time. And thanks for passing the word to mailing lists and friends far and wide.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!

> Its not often we are in such a production pinch, but my-oh-my we are
> seriously behind on weeding our winter carrot rotations. In an effort
> to keep our labor expenses more in check this year, we have employed
> just a few less people, which we are seriously feeling the hurt for
> right now!
>
> Late august is kinda like the “perfect storm” on the farm. Not only are
> we still direct seeding, irrigating, weeding, and marketing, but harvest
> has hit HIGH GEAR as we pull/pack carrots for PCC Natural Markets, and
> all the little things like zukes, cukes, beans, tomatoes, and more are
> all finally ready to harvest. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! Our field crews are
> total rock-stars, working 12-15 hours days when needed to get it all
> done…but it’s not enough! We are dangerously behind on weeding, and
> our 26 beds of winter carrots hang in the balance.
>
